This band had some of my first compositional projects that involved improvisation as a
main component of the compositio. I did three CDs with this band. The first, Hommages Obliques,
came out in 1993. The band was John Fumo on trumpet/flugelhorn/cornet, Jeff Gauthier on violins, and Jeff
McCutheon on drumset. The second and third CDs, Lingua Oscura (1995) and Pienso Oculto
(1997), had Dan Morris on drumset after Jeff McCutchen's untimely death. The music for this band has a lot
of different elements: jazz, early 20th-century classical, rock, latin, funk.
